ARTISTS’ BARNS
ARTISTS’ BARNS

Mark Rothko’s Barn (in a private collection)

Trevor Bounford has been developing his Artists’ Barns series since 2014. Each is shaped from a solid block of wood, usually oak (a traditional material for barn construction) which is then painted in the style of an established artist, as he imagines they might have chosen to paint a barn. These small painted sculptures are a homage to, or a wry comment on, the work of well-known artists.

Works from the series have twice been exhibited in London in the RA Summer Exhibition, and three times in the annual ING Discerning Eye exhibition at the Mall Galleries (online in 2020), in the Humber to The Wash 2022 exhibition at the Ropewalk Gallery in Barton-on-Humber and at other regional galleries and shows.
